In this communication system, data can be transmitted even when a user does not touch indirectly to the communication module, i.e. when the user's hand is located several centimeters away from the module or positioned behind an insulator such as a handkerchief. The setup utilizes what is called "electric field communication system" in which the human body acts as a sort of capacitor to transmit data.
In order to provide a mechanism for scientific and technical cooperation in Human Body Communication (HBC) technology, AMPLET Inc. of Japan and Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) of Korea agreed to purse scientific and technical cooperation in HBC in accordance with Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The purpose of this MoU is to provide a framework for the exchange of scientific and technical knowledge and the augmentation of scientific and technical capabilities of AMPLET and ETRI with respect to HBC.
The 1st Joint Seminar on Human Body Communication Standards, Collaboration between Korea and Japan was held in Seoul on November 22 and 23, 2011.
The 2nd Joint Seminar on Human Body Communication Standards, Collaboration between Korea and Japan was held in Tokyo on February 13 and 14, 2012. Many participants attended from companies and universities in Japan, who had an interest in HBC.
We thank Dr. Kinoshita Taizo of Hitachi to prepare for the Venue for this seminar.
The 3rd Joint Seminar on Human Body Communication Standards, Collaboration between Korea and Japan was held in Jeju Island on October 22 and 23, 2012. We discussed about some applications using HBC technology for creating new business.
Participants from Japan have enjoyed sightseeing on Jeju Island, where is the famous resort place in Korea on October 24.
The 4th Joint Seminar on Human Body Communication Standards, Collaboration between Korea and Japan was held in Yokohama on July 9 and 10, 2013. Participants came not only from Korea and Japan, but also from Malaysia, Sweeden and U.S.A.
ETRI made a demonstration of HBC high speed data communication using their prototype.
The 5th Joint Seminar on Human Body Communication Standards, Collaboration between Korea and Japan was held in Daejeon on March 12 and 13, 2015.
Daejeon is the location with many research institutes and universities. Dr. Nebiya lectured on Human Body Communication technology at Chungnam National University (CNU), too.
The 6th Joint Seminar on Human Body Communication Standards, Collaboration between Korea and Japan was held in Tokyo on May 9 and May 10, 2016.
There are two human body communications have proposed. One is "the on-body communication", which HBC transmitter and receiver put on the human body, and another is "the in-body communication", which is communication between in-body and out-body with Galvanic coupling electrodes.
The 7th Joint Seminar on Human Body Communication Standards, Collaboration between Korea and Japan was held in Daejeon on May 22 and 23, 2017.
May 22 : We have discussed about in-body communication technology and standard, in case of Capsule Endoscopy.
May 23 : We have discussed about on-body communication applications for vehicle.
The 8th Joint Seminar on Human Body Communication Standards, Collaboration between Korea and Japan has held in Tokyo and Yokohama between March 19 and 21, 2018.
As some Japanese companies which had an interest in human body communication offered Dr. NEBIYA Hideyuki that they would need a place for discussing on human body communication in Japan, he established "Human Body Communication Consortium (HBCC)" in June of 2017. We expect that HBC business will be popular in the very near future all over the world.
The 9th Joint Seminar on Human Body Communication Standards, Collaboration between Korea and Japan was planned to hold in Daejeon City, Korea between Jun. 4 and Jun. 5, 2019. But we are very sorry to inform you that we have decided to postpone the holding of this HBC Seminar.
When the 9th Joint Seminar on Human Body Communication Standards, Collaboration between Korea and Japan will replan in the very near future, we will let you know it again. Thank you for your patience.
